Extended families, whether separated by a long distance or just a few miles, may want to consider spending some vacation time together each year. Busy lifestyles keep children as separated as do the miles. Today’s busy families tend not to visit if plans aren’t made. Grandma, keep those family ties strong by suggesting a family vacation either at your home or at an agreed-upon vacation spot.

Vacationing at Grandma and Grand’s House

When the extended family comes to visit, day trips are a fun way for everyone to spend time together. Grandma, suggest something fun to do.

• Choose from among your state’s sightseeing opportunities. The zoo is always good. Hands-on museums are next in line, along with amusement parks.

• Present each grandchild with a one-time-use camera. They love taking their own photos. You can add a miniphoto album for fun.

Shortening the Distance

• Meet halfway if several families are coming from different states. Mountain village resorts are fun for family get-togethers.

• Stay at a hotel and relax around the pool. Grandma, you’ve got it made!
